Although over 40 years old, VME continues to be used today in applications that require a rugged and fail-safe industrial computing platform that’s tried and tested.
Verotec have recently designed and manufactured a suite of 1U (2 slot) and 2U (4 slot), 19” rack-mounting VME64bus systems for use in nuclear power stations.
Adopting the Eurocard mechanical standard meant pluggable power supplies and filtered fan trays could be easily incorporated to meet the high-availability requirements of the system.
